The Finch Society of WA (Inc) was founded in 1982 and has gone from strength to strength since then. Under the terms of our Constitution our aim is to foster the keeping and breeding of Australian and foreign finches and other soft-billed birds and to cater for the showing of these birds. Also to promote good fellowship and understanding amongst members and other Societies and to encourage presentation of suggestions which would contribute to the benefit of the Society
We meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Agricultural Hall (next door to Café Bellini) 209 Main St, Osborne Park. Doors open approx 7.00pm for meeting at 7.30pm. There are the formalities of the club to start with, then we try to have a variety of speakers throughout the year and a video or slide show is usually shown. At the end of the meeting there is a light supper, although tea, coffee, cool drinks and biscuits are available from the beginning and there is time to chat to other members and ask questions etc. There is also an accessories table to buy rings, nesting materials, worming solutions and a whole heap of other “birding” necessities. We have a range of club merchandise in the form of polo shirts, fleece tops etc which can be ordered and there is a club magazine which goes out every two months.
Auctions are held three times a year where you can sell your surplus birds and maybe find that bird you’ve been looking for! Birds for sale must be pre-booked a week before the auction.
